WASHINGTON - The game between the Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals, scheduled for 12:35 p.m. CT Sunday, was delayed by inclement weather.
A line of showers was approaching Nationals Park around the scheduled game time, according to Nationals officials, leading to the delay.
Lefty reliever Jacob Latz was scheduled to start for the Rangers in what is to be a “bullpen game.” The Rangers went with Latz, who has been pitching well, to counter Washington’s usual lineup that is top heavy with lefties. The Nationals instead adjusted their lineup on Sunday to have only two lefty batters in the top six: James Wood, hitting second, and Nathaniel Lowe, hitting fourth.
Right-hander Trevor Williams was scheduled to start for Washington.
